The original structure of this house did not complement its historic nor its natural environment. It also lacked a complete foundation and any usable space below the first floor. Ambrose Homes, Inc. lifted the house and placed it on a new foundation with a round stone facade. The new basement has a coffered ceiling and houses a bedroom and utility room. We removed and rebuilt 70% of the original structure in this project, building two de facto dormers in order to create new spaces while maintaining the aesthetic within the scale of the original house. We also built a lovely deck off of the living room, overlooking Scargo Lake. This project is an example of Ambrose Homes, Inc.'s excellent capabilities in operating within the framework of Historic Commission regulations.
